ABOUT THE ARTIST
Adelle van Zyl (born 1981) grew up on a farm in the Eastern Cape and currently lives on a smallholding north of Pretoria, where she works as a full-time artist. Her preferred medium is oil painting but she also creates collages and, occasionally, large-scale installations. Her work alludes to psychologically laden aspects of the human condition, while her paintings focus on intimate details of everyday life, to elevate the mundane. In 2022 she was named one of art.co.za’s most on-the-rise-artists in South Africa.
